List of installations bombed by the international coalition in Syria

Security Council

S/2016/253

Distr.: General
17 March 2016
English
Original: Arabic

Identical letters dated 16 March 2016 from the Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council

On instructions from my Government, and further to our previous letters in which we indicated that the so-called international coalition led by the United States of America had attacked oil and gas installations in the Syrian Arab Republic and the country's economic infrastructure, I should like to inform you that the so-called international coalition has bombed the following installations:

  • The Kubaybah gas compressor station in Hasakah governorate on 9 December 2015
  • The Markadah gas separation station on 12 December 2015
  • The free gas station in Raqqah governorate on 4 February 2016
  • The Conoco Dayr al-Zawr gas collection and treatment plant on 8 March 2016

The bombing resulted in substantial material losses and the almost total destruction of some of those facilities. This is in addition to the great destruction that has been caused to Syrian oil and gas sites and installations, particularly in Dayr al-Zawr, Raqqah and Hasakah governorates.

The Government of the Syrian Arab Republic once again calls for the immediate cessation of these practices and stresses that it has the right to demand compensation from the States of the so-called international coalition for the deliberate destruction of Syrian service, industrial, production and gas installations.

I should be grateful if the present letter could be issued as a document of the Security Council.

(Signed) Mounzer Mounzer
Chargé d'affaires a.i.
