Identical letters dated 26 October 2016 from the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council

On instructions from my Government, and further to our previous letters drawing your attention to attacks by the so-called international coalition against civilians, infrastructure and economic facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic, I transmit herewith a table containing:

(a) Initial estimates of the costs of losses resulting from attacks carried out by the so-called international coalition against oil and gas facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic during the period from 1 August to 16 October 2016 (see annex I).

(b) Initial estimates of the overall costs of losses resulting from attacks carried out by the so-called international coalition against oil and gas facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic from the onset of those attacks to 16 October 2016 (see annex II).

The Syrian Arab Republic reiterates its position regarding counter-terrorism, which it has set out in identical letters addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, including the letter issued under the symbol A/68/984-S/2014/642.

The Syrian Arab Republic once again calls for an immediate cessation of such violations and reiterates that it has the right to demand compensation from the States of the so-called international coalition for their deliberate destruction of Syrian infrastructure and service, industrial, production and gas installations.

I should be grateful if the present letter could be issued as a document of the Security Council.

(Signed) Bashar Ja'afari
Ambassador
Permanent Representative
