Possible US arms supplies to Ukraine threaten Russia's security -- Foreign Ministry
The possible supplies of US weapons to Ukraine threaten Russia's security, the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich, said on Thursday.
"We are very seriously concerned by these plans. Taking into account the revanchist plans of the "party of war" in Kiev, this could not only escalate the conflict in the south-east, but also threaten the security of Russia, the territory of which has been shelled several times from the Ukrainian side," the diplomat said.
"This decision could significantly damage the Russian-US relations," Lukashevich said.
Ukrainian authorities' actions speak for their stake on the military operation contradictory to previously reached agreements and such tendency needs to be reversed, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry went on to say.
"Unfortunately, Ukrainian authorities' public rhetoric and, what is the most important, the real actions of Ukrainian law enforcers boldly point to the assumed course toward the undisputed military settlement of the current situation in contradiction to all earlier reached agreements and Kiev's assumed obligations to the international society," Lukashevich concluded.
