Ukraine's membership in EU not on agenda -- EU ambassador to Russia

Ukraine's membership of the EU is not on the current agenda and no discussions of the issue are underway, EU ambassador to Russia Vigaudas Usackas told a news conference on Thursday.

"Ukraine is an important partner for the EU. We've signed an association agreement," Usackas said. "At the moment no negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU are underway. The issue is not on the agenda."

Latvia's ambassador in Moscow Astra Kurme, too, confirmed the issue isn't on the agenda.

"Ukraine's membership will not be considered for the time being," she said.
