Croats are fighting in Ukraine -- Croatia FM
Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic confirmed on Wednesday that Croatian nationals are fighting in Ukraine.
"As far as I know, there are Croatian soldiers in Ukraine who have joined the Ukrainian army," Pusic told journalists ahead of a government meeting in Zagreb.
The Croatian Agency for Surveillance and Security is watching the activities of Croatian nationals abroad. According to the agency, Croats are fighting only in the regular Ukraine army and are of no relation to any paramilitary units, the Croatian foreign minister said.
"We /the Foreign Ministry/ are constantly in touch with the agency," Pusic said without specifying how many Croatian nationals are fighting in the Ukraine army.
In previous reports, Croatian media wrote that dozens of Croats had joined the Azov volunteer punitive battalion. Half of its soldiers are foreigners, according to the Croatian News Agency HINA.
