UK to send no troops to Ukraine -- defense secretary
The United Kingdom is considering Ukraine's requests for support but will not send troops to the country, British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said on Wednesday.
Fallon confirmed Prime Minister's David's Cameron Tuesday statement on "non-lethal equipment" support for Ukraine adding that up to 75 British soldiers divided into four teams would go to an area well away from the conflict zone to provide medical, logistics, intelligence and infantry skills training.
Fallon said the aim was to build up the capacity and resilience of Ukraine's forces.
He said the British aid would be provided under the request from Kiev. "Where we can help a friend in non-lethal equipment, we should, " Fallon said.
