PACE refuses to see that Ukraine is on brink of total national split
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) regards extremism in Ukraine as "a manifestation of young and vibrant Ukrainian democracy," Alexei Pushkov, the head of the Russian State Duma Committee for International Affairs and the head of the Russian delegation to PACE, said after the PACE Monitoring Committee meeting on Tuesday.
"We do not think that Ukraine has a democracy or any legitimate government. We believe that the current events in the east (of Ukraine) confirm that the country is on the brink of a total national split. They (at PACE) are refusing to see that," Pushkov stressed.
He described PACE's stance on Ukraine as flawed because the Assembly was closing its eyes to anything that did not fit into its concept of a purely democratic revolution.
