Kiev authorities committing crime against own people, says presidential candidate
Actions of Kiev government towards the people living in southeastern regions of Ukraine are a crime against own people, MP Oleh Tsaryov, who is running for presidency in the May 25 election, said Thursday in an interview with the Rossiya 24 channel.
"The actions of the Kiev government constitute a doubtless crime against the citizens of Ukraine," he said. "That's a crime they will held accountable one day for.
The Kiev authorities fail to comply with provisions of the Geneva accord on resolving the Ukrainian crisis, Tsaryov told Rossiya 24.
"In fact, the Right Sector has been legalized instead of being disarmed. Now they are killing civilians in the south-east of the country," the parliamentarian said. "Amnesty was not put into practice either - arrests continue, army's punitive operation against Ukrainian nationals continues," he said. He blamed the West and the US, "which placed these politicians in power and don't denounce their activity now" for what the government does".
"The blood of civilians will not be forgotten, interim leaders will have responsibility for that," Tsaryov, a former Party of Regions' deputy said.
Aggressive moves by the Kiev authorities are connected with visits by US state officials, Tsaryov said.
The parliamentarian said the official Kiev had launched an active phase of the operation after a visit to Kiev by CIA Director John Brennan. "Blood was shed once again after US Vice President Joe Biden visited the country," he noted. "At least five fighters from the self-defence units of Sloviansk were killed today, and news has come about a big number of wounded people," he said.
The 'active phase' of a punitive operation by the Kiev authorities began early on Thursday outside Sloviansk, the Donetsk region. Armored vehicles were pulled in, and snipers took their positions. Fire was opened on self-defence units. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry says five protesters were killed.
