Ukrainian Interior Ministry urges to prevent disruption of negotiating process
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has called for not breaking the fragile truce not to trigger new violence.
The truce is continuing, and the negotiating process in the Supreme Rada between the authorities and the opposition is going on. It must not be broken not to provoke new mass disorders, the ministry stressed in a statement on Friday.
The ministry notes that incidents around Independence Square have become regular. It has become a trend when something happens to protesters at the end of a week, giving a formal occasion to hold a mass meeting.
The ministry is also concerned over the fact that after the latest events connected with detention of some armed citizens, mass disorders in the capital's central district and beating of people, protesters continue to accuse authorities of provocations.
Meanwhile, hundreds of opposition supporters were picketing the building of the Ukrainian Security Service in central Kiev on Friday, demanding to take steps in connection with the Crimean Supreme Council's statement and politically motivated persecution of opposition activists.
The protesters had flags of the parties Batkivshchyna, Udar, Svoboda and state flags in their hands.
About 50 people were also picketing the Prosecutor General's Office, demanding to stop political repressions and to release all the political prisoners.
Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka is on holiday until February 10.
