Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine opens another criminal case against Yanukovych
The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has opened another criminal case against Viktor Yanukovych for calls to hold referendums for defining the status of each region within Ukraine, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported on Friday.
The report says Yanukovych in another address to the Ukrainian people on Friday described the present authorities in Ukraine as illegal and urged demands for a referendum to define the status of each region within Ukraine.
The Prosecutor General's Office holds that, by these actions, Yanukovych encroaches on internal security in the functioning of the constitutional system and in the area of the state authorities' activity.
The criminal proceedings were opened under the article regarding actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional system or at the seizure of power.
