Ukrainian military arrive in Belgorod for inspection
Four representatives have arrived in Belgorod to conduct an inspection of the area under the Vienna Document of 2011, head of the Russian National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
"This kind of inspection is made to check the absence of large-scale military activity in separate regions of the states - signatories to the agreement," he said. "The Ukrainian side has decided to conduct this inspection to monitor an area of about 13,000 square kilometers in the Belgorod and Kursk regions for "undeclared military activity."
The center head informed that "during the inspection the Ukrainian experts will have an opportunity to monitor the specified area (including with the use of automobile transport and a helicopter flight) to make sure that no military activity, threatening Ukraine, as the Ukrainian and Western media have extensively reported in recent days, is conducted there."
According to Ryzhkov, the inspection will be conducted for two days fully at the expense of the RF.
"It's the last inspection conducted in the Russian Federation in 2014 under the Vienna Document in connection with the fact that all quotas for the inspection of our territory have been exhausted by the OSCE states," he added.
