Ukrainian army violates ceasefire 11 times, militia fighter killed - DPR Defense Ministry
The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire regime 11 times last night, a mortar attack left a militia fighter dead, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said on Friday.
"The Ukrainian side, despite the solemn assurances of its representatives in Minsk in the presence of the OSCE mission, violated the ceasefire regime 11 times last night," Donetsk News Agency quotes a Defense Ministry spokesman as saying.
According to him, the mortar fire killed one DPR military service member who died of multiple fragmentation wounds.
The DPR Defense Ministry noted that Staromikhailovka and Kominternovo villages as well as the Donetsk airport area had come under fire. "The enemy fired more than 82-mm mortar shells, more than 10 shots from tanks and more than 20 shots from armored personnel carriers. Double-tongued Ukrainian media reported that was the Ukrainian army's celebratory gunfire," the ministry added.
For its part, the staff headquarters of Kiev's military operation accused the militias of violating the ceasefire.
On December 22, 2015, the Contact Group urged the parties to the conflict to establish the full and unconditional ceasefire in the Donbass region as of December 23, 2015 - the sixth since the autumn of 2014.
