Ukrainian army shelled Spartak village in Donbass for over 10 hours - media
Ukraine's army on Saturday shelled the village of Spartak near Donetsk Airport for more than 10 hours, the Donetsk News Agency reported.
"We have been shelled again, they started yesterday at 22:00 and ended today after 8 a.m.," a village resident said. She said fire was delivered from mortars deployed in Ukraine-occupied village of Opytnoye.
No casualties have been reported.
Observers of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of the ceasefire regime in Donbass, the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE and the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) have arrived in the village of Kominternovo, which on Friday came under intense mortar and tank fire on the part of Ukraine, the Donetsk News Agency reported.
The inspection's participants have started inspecting the inhabited locality. "The shelled area is all in craters," DPR Defense Ministry spokesman Eduard Basurin said Saturday.
The village of Kominternovo, located in the buffer zone between the positions of the DPR and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, came under intense shelling on December 25. At least 240 shells were fired at the village over three hours.
At talks in Minsk on December 22, the Contact Group on settlement in Donbass reached a joint decision to establish from 00:00 December 23, 2015 a complete and unconditional ceasefire - the sixth since the conflict start.
Ukrainian troops have been engaged in fighting with local militias during Kiev's punitive operation, underway since mid-April 2014, against the breakaway territories - the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics constituting parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine.
Massive shelling of residential neighborhoods, including with the use of aviation, has killed thousands and led to a humanitarian disaster in the area.
Kiev has regularly violated the ceasefire regime imposed as part of the Package of Measures on implementation of the September 2014 Minsk Agreements.
The Package (Minsk-2) was signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarusian capital Minsk by participants of the Contact Group on settlement in Donbass.
