Kiev forces accused of redeploying almost 40 tanks to Donbas disengagement line
The intelligence units of the self-proclaimed unrecognized Donetsk republic (DPR) have noticed redeployment of almost 40 Ukrainian tanks to the line of contact, Eduard Basurin, the DPR Defense Ministry spokesperson, said on Thursday.
"Twenty one combat infantry vehicles and armoured personnel carriers have arrived in the Opytnoye populated locality, 3 kilometres away from the line of contact; 18 tanks have been deployed in Gnutovo, 8 kilometres away from the disengagement line," the Donetsk News Agency quoted Basurin as saying.
DPR's reconnaissance men saw defective tanks moved to positions along the local water reservoir in Karlovka village, 14 kilometres away from the line of contact, Basurin went on to say.
Ukraine's Right Sector volunteer corps has deployed a battalion reinforced by ten tanks near the disengagement line in Krasnogorovka.
OSCE registers up to 70 shellings in Donbass per day
The OSCE special monitoring mission in Ukraine sees a new escalation of tensions in Donbass, the deputy head of the mission, Alexander Hug, said on Thursday.
The number of shellings on the contact line reaches between 8 and 70 per day, Hug said, stressing that the figures show that the ceasefire is fragile and the situation in the region is complicated.
The sides violate the agreements on withdrawing heavy weaponry and weapons with the caliber under 100 mm, Hug said. The mission registered 57 various explosions near the Donetsk railroad on November 22.
Numerous violations of the ceasefire regime were also registered in the area on November 23. Another 17 explosions carried out by both sides, including mortar fire and heavy machine guns, were heard in Krasnogorovsk.
Under a package of measures to implement the Minsk agreements (Minsk-2) adopted on February 12, 2015, 100 mm artillery guns and weapons of larger caliber are to be pulled out to a distance of 50 kilometres from each other; MRLS - to 70 km; MRLS Tornado, Uragan and Smerch as well as the Tochka tactical operational missile complex to 140 km. In accordance with the September supplement to the package of measures, guns with a caliber below 100 mm and tanks and mortar launchers, including those with a caliber of 120 mm, were supposed to have been withdrawn before November 12.
