Ukrainian troopers ordered to shoot to kill to protect their lives — Ukrainian president
The situation in Donbas has a stable trend to aggravate, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Wednesday.
"The Ukrainian military have received orders to shoot to kill if their lives are threatened and in conditions of extreme necessity when they become targets for an attack," the Ukrainian president added.
President Poroshenko also accused the militias in the self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine of attempts to thwart the Minsk agreements by provoking Ukrainian troopers to subversive actions. Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine was steadily implementing the peace agreements and resorted only to defensive actions.
However, the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) regularly report that the Ukrainian army shells their positions. On November 10, the mayor of the town of Debaltsevo reported an attempt to break the DPR positions in its outskirts.
In addition to that, a People's Militia soldier of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) died when it was assaulted by Ukraine's subversive and reconnaissance group near the village of Pionerskoye on November 10.
