OSCE extends its mission's mandate at Russia-Ukraine border for another three months

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) decided to extend the mandate of the monitoring mission at the Russian-Ukrainian border until January 31, 2016, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry's press service said on Friday.

"On September 17, 2015, the OSCE took a decision to extend the mandate of the monitoring mission at the Russian-Ukrainian border [Donetsk and Gukovo checkpoints] until January 31, 2016," the statement said.

The signers of the Minsk Protocol from September 5, 2014, agreed to "take all the obligations on providing permanent monitoring on Russia-Ukraine border and it's verification from the OSCE."

The initial decision to deploy OSCE monitors at the Russian-Ukrainian border was taken on July 24, 2014. The mandate has been extended every three months ever since.
