Euromaidan leader quits Poroshenko party's faction

Deputy Oleg Musiy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc has decided to quit the party's parliamentary faction. He published a letter on his withdrawal on Facebook on Monday.

"I am asking you to announce my decision to leave the faction at the next parliamentary meeting," Musiy wrote in his letter.

The deputy was outraged by the fact that the opposition and ruling coalition factions in the Ukraine parliament had voted jointly on amendments to Ukraine's constitution in part of decentralization of power in Ukraine.

Doctor Oleg Musiy, one of the Euromaidan's founding fathers, organized medical aid to the protesters in the winter of 2014. He was the health minister in Ukraine's interim government, formed after the state coup, for almost a year. Then, he became a Verkhovna Rada deputy from the presidential party.

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (parliament) on Monday adopted amendments to Ukraine's constitution in part of decentralization in the first reading. Two hundred sixty five deputies out of the required 226 voted for the Poroshenko-proposed amendments.

Three ruling coalition factions, including "Samopomoch" (Self-Help), "Batkivshchina" (Fatherland) and the Radical Party, voted against the bill on constitutional amendments earlier on Monday.
