Klitschko urges investigation of Yanukovych regime crimes
Boxer-turned-politician and leader of Ukraine's UDAR party Vitali Klitschko has called for setting up a special commission to investigate actions of ousted president Viktor Yanukovych.
"We should immediately set up a special commission to investigate crimes of the Yanukovych regime, attract foreign experts and provide daily reports on the investigation results," he told a parliamentary meeting of the coordination board on Monday. "We need to institute criminal cases against top officials of the regime, apply to diplomatic missions abroad for assistance in searching for those who have already managed to flee Ukraine, and probe into actions of investigators, prosecutors and judges involved in repressions against opposition activists," Klitschko added.
The UDAR faction insists that the parliament should consider bills ratifying the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and banning operation of Ukraine's elite riot police Berkut.
