Bodies of 16 plane crash victims remain under fuselage debris
The bodies of 16 victims from a Malaysian airliner that crashed in east Ukraine remain at the crash site, the press office of the Donetsk People's Republic said on Wednesday.
"As of now, another 16 bodies remain under the plane fuselage debris at the crash site. The remains will be evacuated after survey specialists arrive and do the necessary work," the press office said.
A refrigerator rail car designated for this purpose is already staying at the Torez railway station. A rail car with the crash victims' belongings collected at the crash site is also at the railway station, the press office said. "It has been sealed and placed under security."
A train with the remains of the Malaysian plane crash victims arrived on Tuesday in the east Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said there were about 200 bodies from the crashed Boeing airliner in the train.
The first plane with the bodies of 20 Dutch nationals has flown to the Netherlands on Wednesday for identification procedures.
"The first delivery will include 20 bodies. All the works have been organized in a way to complete the transportation of all the bodies until Friday inclusive," head of the Ukraine State Commission for the Air Crash Probe Vladimir Groisman said.
Earlier reports said that the black boxes from the crashed airliner had been delivered to the United Kingdom for deciphering.
The Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 airliner en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in the area of combat operations between local militias and Ukrainian governmental troops in east Ukraine's Donetsk region on Thursday, July 17. All 298 people aboard the plane, including 193 Dutch nationals, died in the air crash.
