DPR militia reports Kiev forces shelling Donbass villages overnight
Kiev forces fired 64 shells at the northern and western areas of Donetsk, the suburbs of Yasinovataya and the Sakhanka village in the south of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) overnight, the Donetsk news agency reported on Monday.
"From 10.00 p.m. to 2.10 a.m. the Kiev forces shelled the villages of Mineralnoye, Spartak, Sakhanka and also the DPR positions near the airport and the Yasinovatsky roadblock. A total of 29 shells of 82-mm and 35 shells of 120-mm caliber were fired," the DPR law enforcers told the agency.
The shellings were carried out from positions in the area of the Butovskaya coal mine and the settlements of Avedeyevka, Opytnoye, Shirokino, Krasnogorovka and Novomikhailovka. Besides mortars, the forces used armored personnel carriers, large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and small arms.
The participants of the Contact Group on settling the crisis in eastern Ukraine agreed to observe the silence regime starting from midnight on April 30. However, the self-defense militias and Kiev forces continue blaming each other for ceasefire violations.
