Russia ready to hand over Malaysian plane flight data to ICAO

Russia's Federal Agency for Air Transportation said it was ready to share all information on the Malaysian Boeing-777 passenger plane crash to an ICAO-led group of international experts investigating the accident.

"With a view to ensuring an impartial international investigation of the circumstances and causes of the air crash, the Agency is ready to provide, upon request, air monitoring data it has at its disposal. If need be, the Agency is also ready to provide experts to assist with the investigation of the Malaysian Boeing accident," the Agency said on Monday.

The Agency's Head Alexander Neradko sent an official letter to ICAO Council President Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry released a video provided by the Rostov air traffic control centre, which showed the movement of civil aircraft over Ukraine on the approaches to Russia's airspace.

Lieutenant-General Andrei Kartapolov, head of the Main Operations Department of the Russian Army General Staff, said the Defense Ministry would hand over all materials regarding the Boeing accident to European and Malaysian experts.

"The materials prepared by the Russian Defense Ministry will be handed over to experts from leading European countries and Malaysia today," he said. "I hope they will help to conduct an objective investigation of the tragedy."

"The Russian Defense Ministry will continue to post information on new facts related to the Malaysian Boeing-777 plane crash," Kartapolov said.

The plane en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region on July 17. All of the 298 people aboard died.
