Militia ready to pass to guerrilla war if Ukraine beefs up army in south-east
Militias are ready to pass to the tactics of a guerrilla war If Ukrainian military forces are beefed up in the southeast of the country, representative of the Donetsk People's Republic Andrei Rodkin said at a meeting of the public support committee to people in southeast Ukraine on Friday.
In his words, despite overwhelming domination of Ukrainian armed forces militias have made several tangible successes. "New models of armored vehicles, including multiple launch rocket system GRAD and armored infantry assault vehicles BMP-2 were seized from Ukrainian army," the Donetsk regional official said, noting that "In this sense, we are few, but most probably we will rebuff them." Rodkin noted that Ukrainian military forces were using US tactics. "What they call a mopping-up operation it is not a mopping-up, but scotched-earth tactics," he added.
Rodkin estimates Ukrainian army forces at 340 thousand servicemen and around one thousand armored vehicles. "In an extreme situation if Ukrainian army reinforces its military units we may pass to a guerrilla war," he noted, adding that the Donetsk People's Republic "needs peace badly." "We are ready to discuss ceasefire to stop murders of civilians and destruction of the infrastructure," he added.
