Militia in south-eastern Ukraine pledges to cease fire until June 27
Militia in the south-east of Ukraine has promised to cease fire before June 27. Alexander Borodai, the prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, said this on Monday, June 23.
"In reply to the cessation of fire by Kiev, we pledge to stop fire on our part too. The current ceasefire is valid until June 27," he said after talks on the implementation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's peace plan in the region, adding that the movement of troops on the territories of people's republics would be also suspended.
"We hope that within this time, monitoring to watch over the compliance with this mode would be arranged by Russia and the OSCE. We hope that during the joint ceasefire we would be able to agree and at least to start consultations about negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the conflict," Borodai said.
