Russia not to threaten to impose retaliatory sanctions to Brussels sanctions
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin stated that Russia would not threaten to impose retaliatory sanctions to Brussels sanctions.
"On our part, we will not threaten to introduce retaliatory sanctions," he told Itar-Tass.
"This would be silly. Talks about sanctions are indecent in terms of industrial co-operation," Rogozin noted.
In the words of the deputy prime minister, on the contrary, Russian government believes that settlement of most issues in relations between Russia and the West "lies in the sphere of growing capitalisation of our relations and this is primarily industrial co-operation and leading industrial enterprises from European countries and U.S. producers are keenly interested in this."
Rogozin noted that disruption or suspension of these relations was fraught with aftermath, primarily for those "who are engaged in politicking, speaking about politics." In his view, it is primarily needed to work on country's development and the country will develop only when it has production industries that create necessary conditions for business and production.
"Amid world economic crisis pretentious muscle-flexing in the way of sanctions is very dangerous and even criminal," the deputy premier noted. "Therefore, we do not conduct any talks about retaliatory measures. This is not our task. Our task is just to warn that everything is very interrelated in this world: you hurl a boomerang and it usually flies back," Rogozin said.
In general, in the view of Rogozin, Russian production industries are prepared to hard ordeals. "It is absolutely obvious that we have already done very much recently in import substitution and revival of Russian defence and industrial sector," Rogozin said. "Therefore, today we are not afraid of any sanctions," he added. In his words, those meetings that he had in the government with directors of production enterprises, designers, contractors, in production industries and integrated structures "showed that Russian production industries are prepared for heavy ordeals."
"Yes, we will use some additional efforts, some additional time. Certainly, not years, but months may be lost. But we will cope with this all the same," the deputy prime minister believes. Rogozin said with confidence that such extreme situation will even make our production industries working better. "After all we face quite serious trials related with production volume for the needs of Russian Armed Forces. Requirements are very serious to creation of advanced scientific-technical developments. And here are these sanctions, to put it more precisely, a threat. But we will cope with this," Rogozin said in conclusion.
