Moscow disappointed with EU's inability to play independent role in global affairs -- FM
Moscow is disappointed with the European Union's inability to play an independent role in global affairs, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday in connection with Brussels' new sanctions package against Russia.
"The EU seems to be ready to sustain serious economic costs for the sake of implementation of doubtful geopolitical schemes managed from outside," the ministry said.
"In its sanctions drive, Brussels voluntarily creates obstacles for further cooperation with Russia in such a key sphere as energy," it said. "This is a thoughtless, irresponsible step. It will inevitably lead to growing prices on the European energy market.
Moscow does not rule out that OSCE monitors who arrived in Rostov Region may run into danger, calls on Kiev to immediately stop military operation, the Foreign Ministry has added.
