Krasny Liman and the Avdeyevka industrial zone come under Russian, DPR and LPR control
On 26 May 2022, Russia, the DPR and the LPR (Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics) took control of the town of Krasny Liman and the industrial zone of Avdeyevka, preparing to block the road to Konstantinovka.
After only a few days of fighting, the town of Krasny Liman has come under the control of the Russian armed forces and the LPR people's militia. The Ukrainian armed forces that controlled the town have fled to the west and south-west, and are now shelling Krasny Liman.
Many Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoner (over 500), and weapons supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries were recovered by Russia and the LPR.
The capture of Krasny Liman by the Allied forces means that they are now only 15 km from Slaviansk.
Further east, in Severodonetsk, the Ukrainian side reported the advance of Russian and LPR troops from the directions of Voevodovka and Shchredishchevo, and fighting is already taking place near the city's bus station.
Further south, the Russian army destroyed two artillery batteries and two ammunition depots near Soledar, as well as an OSA air defence system in the town of Nikolayevka, near Slaviansk.
A bombing raid was also carried out against the railway station of Krasnoyarsk (an important railway junction located 50 km northwest of Donetsk), destroying a unit of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the UAF (Ukrainian Armed Forces) and its military equipment as they were unloaded. This unit had been sent to reinforce Ukrainian troops in the Donbass.
Finally, closer to Donetsk, the situation is finally moving towards Avdeyevka, where the industrial zone is now under the control of the DPR people's militia, which is now moving around the town to reach the highway to Konstantinovka, joining the troops already in Novoselovka Druga. The advance was slow because the positions in the industrial zone were very well fortified.
By cutting this highway, the DPR People's Militia will make it more difficult for Ukrainian troops in Avdeyevka to receive reinforcements, ammunition and military equipment.
In response to this advance by DPR troops, units of a Ukrainian neo-Nazi battalion attempted to conduct a counter-attack towards Donetsk with 10 tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles and two infantry companies. The enemy advance was quickly spotted by the DPR People's Militia, after which 152 mm precision artillery strikes were launched against the enemy forces, putting an end to the counterattack plan.
As I write this, intensive artillery work by the Russian army and the DPR people's militia can be heard all around Donetsk, suggesting that the advance of the allied forces in this area of the front will now accelerate.
