Moscow museum icons safely brought from Kiev back to Russia
Thirty one unique ancient Russian icons from Moscow's Andrei Rublev Museum, which were brought to Kiev's Monastery of the Caves for an exhibition, were safely taken back to Russia, museum sources said on Thursday.
Overnight all the exhibited ancient Russian art masterpieces, icons of the 15th-17th centuries from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Museum, safely arrived from Kiev to Moscow accompanied by specialists who had prepared them for the transportation, the sources said. After the customs procedures, all the exhibits returned to the museum.
The exhibition was open in the Sofia of Kiev national reserve since December 23 and was closed earlier than planned because of the unrest in Kiev.
