Kiev fails to give clear assessment of Crimea energy blockade - Russia's OSCE envoy
Russia has not heard from the Ukrainian authorities a coherent assessment of the blasts damaging the power transmission lines in Ukraine's Kherson region, which led to Crimea's energy blockade, Russia's Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Alexander Lukashevich said speaking at a session of the organization's Permanent Council on the situation in Ukraine. The text of his speech has been posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday.
"The official Kiev has increasingly less control over the situation," he said. "The country's leadership has not yet come up with a coherent assessment of the blasts that damaged the high-voltage power lines in the Kherson region."
According to the diplomat, "Kiev either supports such actions and then it should bear full responsibility for them or condemns them and then it should bring the perpetrators to justice." "In general, an attempt to blockade Crimea and Sevastopol is a unique phenomenon," he said. "A group of the so-called activists led by Mustafa Dzhemilev and Lenur Islyamov is trying to 'return Crimea' openly victimizing its population."
"The remark of the Right Sector leaders that Crimea will be either Ukrainian or uninhabited is more appropriate than ever here," he added.
