Russian lawmaker says Ukraine's draft military doctrine is 'challenge of aggression'
Irina Yarovaya, the chairwoman of the security and anti-corruption committee of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house, said on Tuesday Ukraine's draft military doctrine is a "challenge of aggression" to the world.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Tuesday his government had referred a draft military doctrine to the National Security and Defence Council. "For the first time in the history of Ukraine's independence, the draft military doctrine defines Russia as an enemy and aggressor," the premier said.
"The draft of Ukraine's military doctrine is not a national security document, it is a documented challenge of aggression presented to the world and a proof evidencing inadequacy of the current Ukrainian authorities," Yarovaya told journalists.
"Ukraine is rapidly losing any signs of legal culture and common sense and is slipping into a marginal state policy," she said.
At the same time, she stressed that the people of Ukraine had always been and would always be a brotherly nation for the Russians. "No insane statements by the authors of the present-day Ukrainian tragedy will be able to change it," Yarovaya underscored.
