Ukrainian security service confirms detention of two Russian journalists
Ukrainian security service has confirmed the detention of two Russian journalists working for the television and radio broadcasting company NTV and Channel 1.
"A decision has been made to reduce the term of their presence in Ukraine. Later in the day they will be expelled to Russia and banned from reentering Ukraine for a period of five years," the security service's spokeswoman, Yelena Gitlyanskaya, said on Wednesday.
Earlier, the Russian broadcaster NTV said its employee, Andrey Grigoryev, was detained in the center of Kiev while reporting from the site of a march by the nationalist group Right Sector.
"It is known that a group of men approached Grigoryev and asked him to present his ID. When they saw Grigoryev was a Russian citizen, they took him away," the NTV channel said.
In Russia the Right Sector is outlawed as an extremist organization.
