Moscow says Russia, Ukraine have no border demarcation problems

Russia and Ukraine have no problems in the sphere of border demarcation, the Russian Foreign Ministry's special envoy for border delimitation and demarcation with CIS states said on Monday.

"We have no problems with Ukraine concerning the border, the border is fully delimited," Igor Bratchikov said rejecting media reports that Moscow is allegedly planning to construct a "wall on the border."

"Russia is not planning such measures," he stressed.

Moscow will rely on the international law while delimiting the maritime border with Ukraine, Bratchikov added.

"As for the Kerch Strait, I don't see that this is the issue now. The issue will emerge in relation to the border between Russia and Ukraine in the Azov and Black Seas. Therefore, there are international and legal provisions, we will rely on them," he said.

"Problems always exist, they are always resolved through negotiations. Any border issues are particularly sensitive," the diplomat said.

The maritime border between Russia and Ukraine in the Kerch Strait, linking the Sea of Azov to the Black Sea, has been for a long time an apple of discord and remains undefined since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
