Russia to upgrade Trans-Siberian railway for 4-5 years
The project of upgrading the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian Mainline will permit to launch development of "around ten major deposits of different natural resources" and to create "export capacities in countries of Asia-Pacific region," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters in the Siberian city on Friday.
"Several plants for reprocessing natural resources is planned to set up," he said at the Krasnoyarsk economic forum. "I believe that we will be able to realize these plans within five-six years with approximate deadline in 2017-2018, when our projects should be finalized and output of already new produce should be launched," the deputy prime minister added.
Meanwhile, Arkady Dvorkovich noted that overall funding for implementing the modernization projects of railways would be increased and monetary funds would be redistributed for financial priorities.
