Russia adapts system of control of Crimean radio frequencies to Russian standards
Adapting a system of control over Crimean radio frequencies to the Russian standards, which should be done by January 1, 2015, will cost 150 million roubles, said Chief of the Federal Service for supervision of legislation in mass communications (Roskomnadzor) Alexander Zharov at a conference in Sevastopol on Thursday. The necessary funds have been earmarked, he said.
Next week mobile units provided with radio frequency control equipment will be established in Sevastopol. The mobile units will operate until permanently based units are put into service, Zharov said.
"It is absolutely certain that a system of permanently stationed units for control over radio frequencies will be established by January 1, 2015," Zharov said.
"Until the end of this year Crimean operators of communications, broadcasting and mass media facilities should be enlisted into the Russian Register. We will not press or hurry anyone to join. We will only welcome positive steps in respect to faster adapting Crimea to the legislation of the Russian Federation," Zharov said.
In 2014 eleven Roskomnadzor experts will work in Crimea. Since the beginning of next year the staff will be enlarged to 50.
