Belarus tightens security along border with Ukraine fearing criminals, weapons
Belarus needs to tighten security along the border with Ukraine to prevent criminals and weapons from crossing the border from the war-torn country, President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday.
"We don't conceal that we have to strengthen our southern borders. Not because we are afraid of Ukrainians, afraid that somebody will attack us. We fear that different kinds of persons unwanted in Belarus, and especially weapons, could be getting here amid developments in Ukraine," Lukashenko said at a meeting with the acting state secretary of the country's Security Council Stanislav Zas and Defence Minister Andrei Ravakov.
According to the presidential press service, Lukashenko was briefed on the situation in the armed forces, first of all "on southern frontiers".
