North Korea completes preparations for new possible nuclear test
North Korea has completed preparations for conducting a possible nuclear test, Japanese media reported.
The sources in the South Korean government say that Pyongyang has placed detonators and measurement devices in one of the tunnels at Punggye-ri nuclear test site in the north-east of the country. The entrance to the tunnel has already been sealed.
Earlier, a spokesperson for the National Defense Ministry of South Korea said that Pyongyang can conduct a nuclear test at any moment. He noted that South Korean intelligence has noticed increased activity in and round the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, where North Korea had conducted its first nuclear test in 2006.
