North, South Korea to hold summit in Pyongyang in September — reports
The next summit between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will take place in September in Pyongyang, Yonhap News Agency reported.
"We agreed to hold an inter-Korean summit within September in Pyongyang," the news agency cited the joint press statement that was made after negotiations that were held earlier on Monday in Panmunjom. "We also reviewed the implementation of the Panmunjom Declaration's conditions and held consultations in a sincere manner on matters related to its more active enforcement."
On April 27, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met in Panmunjom. It was the first summit of the two leaders in the last 10 years. The Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula was signed after the negotiations. Seoul and Pyongyang confirmed that their common goal is the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and agreed to continue active dialogue at a high level.
The second meeting of the leaders took place in Panmunjom this past May.
