Suicide attack in Kabul kills 4, wounds 24, Taliban claims responsibility
A suicide car bomb hit Kabul city on Sunday, leaving at least four persons dead and two dozen others wounded, local media reported.
"The attacker riding an explosive-laden car obviously targeted a convoy of foreign troops, killing four civilians and wounding 24 others," Tolo television reported in its news bulletin.
Meanwhile, spokesman for Kabul police Hashmat Stanikzai has confirmed four deaths of civilians and 20 others injured in the blast.
The area has been cordoned off by security personnel and journalists are not allowed to get access to the site of the blast.
However, Xinhua's reporter at the nearby site of the blast saw around 10 cars and vehicles including one from NATO-led troops damaged in the area.
Eye witnesses in talks with Xinhua said the casualties could be higher than claimed by Stanikzai.
Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit in talks with media via telephone from an unknown location accepted responsibility and said militants attacked foreign forces convoy in Kabul on Sunday, destroying two tanks.
