3 American doctors killed in attack in Afghan hospital
An Afghan security guard opened fire in a hospital in the capital Kabul, reportedly killing three American doctors on Thursday.
"As a result of spraying bullets by a security guard of Cure Hospital in Kabul's 6th precinct, three foreigners were killed and a female health worker injured," the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
However, it didn't identify the nationalities of the victims, saying investigation has been ordered into the case and the details will be made public after completion of investigation.
Police have cordoned off the area and barred access to the site of the incident which took place at 09:50 a.m. local time.
The attacker was also injured, according to the statement. However, the motive for the deadly attack was unclear.
In a similar attack on Kabul Serena Hotel on March 20, nine civilians including five foreigners were killed.
Cure Hospital backed by foreign aid agencies has been providing free medical treatment for patients particularly those suffering from tuberculosis, over the past decade.
