China to deepen int'l cooperation on cyber security
China has made rapid technological progress over the past decade, and now has the most active e-commerce industry in the world. Lu Wei, the country's minister of Cyberspace Administration, said on Monday that China is ready to take its development to the next level, and is looking to work with the international community to achieve that.
"In this new scientific and technological revolution that has information technology at its core, the Internet is increasingly becoming a pace-setter for innovation-driven development. It is profoundly changing people's ways of production and life, and it is powering social development. The Internet has turned the world into a global village and made the international community highly interdependent, with a common destiny. The development of the Internet has posed new challenges to national sovereignty, security and development interests. Following the principle of mutual respect and mutual trust, China is ready to work with other countries to deepen international cooperation, respect sovereignty on the Internet, uphold cyber security, and jointly build a cyberspace of peace, security, openness and cooperation and an international Internet governance system of multilateralism, democracy and transparency," Lu says.
