Tsunami of refugees in Europe triggered by US policy in Middle East - Russian lawmaker
A tsunami of refugees in Europe has been triggered by the United States' policy in the Middle East rather than by Russia's actions, a Russian lawmaker said on Sunday.
"Before September 30, 2015, Russia had sent no warplanes to Syria. So, the tsunami of refugees was not triggered by us, it was provoked by the United States' policy in the Middle East," Alexei Pushkov, the chairman of the international committee at the Russian State Duma lower parliament house, wrote on his Twitter account, commenting on pronouncements of his counterpart in Germany's parliament, Norbert Rottgen, who said Russia's air strikes against terrorist targets in Syria was a manifestation of utter cynicism and the migrant influx in Europe was advantageous to Russia.
"The 'humane' aggressions of the United States &Co in Iraq and Libya are quite another thing!," he wrote, adding that the German parliament was looking for the guilty party in a wrong place.
