Turkey not to be drawn into Syrian conflict: PM

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed Sunday that his country will not be dragged into the Syrian conflict after deadly car bombings struck a border town.

Erdogan said "we have to maintain our calm in the face of efforts and provocations that aim to drag us into the bloody quagmire in Syria."

Referring to Saturday's deadly blasts in Turkey's Reyhanli town, the prime minister said "those who attack Turkey will be held accountable sooner or later."

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said Saturday that an initial investigation showed that the deadly blasts were linked to Syria's intelligence agency.

On Saturday, car bombings shook the town of Reyhanli near the Turkish-Syrian border, killing at least 46 people and injuring over 100, driving up fears that Syria's unrest was spilling over to its neighbors.
