Moscow concerned over attempts of some European states to ignore neo-Nazi tendencies

Russia is deeply concerned about attempts in some European countries to turn a blind eye on neo-Nazi tendencies, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a meeting with representatives of Russian non-governmental organizations (NGO) on Friday.

"We are deeply concerned about the attempts in certain European countries to turn a blind eye on the developing neo-Nazi tendencies, acts of vandalism against monuments and burials of World War II times," the minister said.

"On the background of the well-known complains about threats to liberal European values, we see the so-called silence of the lambs regarding the state support for regular marches of neo-Nazis in Latvia," Lavrov said.

"This is shameful for the European Union and for NATO, and such actions, which actually connive at insulting memories of millions of victims, ignore decisions of the Nuremburg Tribunal, the UN General Assembly's resolution against glorification of Nazism."

The minister expressed confidence this problem would remain in focus of Russian NGO's attention.
