Annex to the letter dated 8 August 2017 from the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council

Information from the Russian Federation Ministry of Defence dated 28 July 2017

The ballistic missile launched on 28 July 2017 at approximately 1740 hours (Moscow time) from the Tongchang-ri missile launch site in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was tracked by the Russian missile attack warning system. The launch was carried out in a direction away from the borders and did not pose a threat to the Russian Federation. The missile reached an altitude of 681 kilometres and flew 732 kilometres before falling into the central part of the Sea of Japan. The parametric flight data of the ballistic target monitored by the Russian missile attack warning system correspond to the characteristics of a medium-range ballistic missile.
