U.S. military command ship may moor to Poti port
The U.S. military command ship Mount Whitney is due to enter the territorial waters of Georgian on Friday.
The U.S. ship is due to arrive at the Poti port, a source in the Georgian defense and security structures told Interfax.
The Georgian Defense Ministry has not officially confirmed or denied this report, saying that "the U.S. vessel may enter the Poti port."
The official purpose of the visit is to bring humanitarian aid to Georgia.
At the same time, the Mount Whitney will coordinate the work of the NATO group of ships which is currently in the Black Sea.
The ship is a floating headquarters of the 6th Fleet of the U.S. Navy.
