Russia’s top intelligence official: US had known about exact date of Georgia’s aggression
In an interview with the RIA News Agency aired on Thursday, Russia’s top intelligence
official said that the United States had known about an exact date of Georgia’s aggression
against South Ossetia. According to him, Tbilisi got Washington’s nod for the military
operations in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The top official pointed to the fact that the
beginning of August saw US NAVY chief of staff Garry Roughhead annul his trip to Russia,
which if fulfilled, could have coincided with the culmination of hostilities in South Ossetia
from 10 to 14 August.
