World Bank pledges extra $100 million to Ebola-hit countries
The World Bank Group announced on Thursday an additional $100 million funding for the Ebola fight in West Africa.
"We must urgently find ways to break barriers to the deployment of more health workers. It is our hope that this $100 million can help be a catalyst for a rapid surge of health workers to the communities in dire need," World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim said.
The announcement increases the World Bank Group's funding for its Ebola crisis response over the last three months in the worst-affected countries to more than $500 million, the World Bank said.
According to the World Health Organization, the Ebola virus has killed more than 5,000 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
