With the challenges to the global economic growth, the leaders stated the BRICS countries are facing new challenges to their economic growth, and thus agreed the economic growth of the BRICS countries will remain an important accelerator of the global economic growth.

"The leaders thanked and supported the Chinese chairing of the Group of Twenty in 2016, and also expressed confidence regarding successful results of the summit in Hangzhou," the ministry said.

Adherence to fighting terrorism under UN auspices

BRICS countries heads of states confirmed they would fight terrorism in its all forms and manifestations in cooperation with other countries under the central role of the United Nations Organization, the Russian Foreign Ministry also said.

"The leaders have confirmed their sincere adherence to fighting terrorism in its all forms and manifestation with the central role of the UN," the ministry said.

"No terrorist attacks may have justifications for ideological, religious, political, race, ethnic or any other reasons," the Foreign Ministry said. "The BRICS leaders stressed it necessary to unite efforts at the global level in fighting terrorism in compliance with norms and approaches of the international law, including the UN Charter."

They "strongly condemned the heinous acts of terrorism, which undermine the global peace and security, social and economic stability. They expressed deep concerns and support for innocent victims in terrorist attacks and condemned the recent terrorist attacks in cities throughout the world."
