US drops Cuba from list of terrorism sponsors
The United States has formally removed Cuba from its list of state sponsors of terrorism, the State Department said on Friday.
"While the United States has significant concerns and disagreements with a wide range of Cuba's policies and actions, these fall outside the criteria relevant to the rescission of a State Sponsor of Terrorism designation," the State Department said in a statement.
The move eliminates an obstacle towards restoring diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana severed in 1961.
Iran, Sudan and Syria remain on the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.
