Enrique Ariza Rivas, former director of Intelligence of the DAS, eighth person convicted for torture as a crime against humanity against Claudia Julieta Duque
Good afternoon,
The Tenth Specialized Criminal Court of Bogota has just condemned the former Director of Intelligence of the Administrative Department of Security (DAS by its Spanish acronym) Enrique Alberto Ariza Rivas to a prison term of 150 months for aggravated torture against me.
Enrique Alberto Ariza Rivas makes eight former DAS officials convicted for the persecution of which my family and I were victims. In addition to Ariza, two former deputy directors of the DAS (Jose Miguel Narvaez and Emiro Rojas Granados), a former head of Intelligence Operations (Hugo Daney Ortiz), a former head of Technological Development (Jorge Armando Rubiano), another former director of Intelligence (Carlos Alberto Arzayuz) and former detectives Nestor Pachon Bermudez (for events in 2001) and Ronal Harbey Rivera Rodriguez (former G-3) have been condemned.
The judge reiterated the order for copies against former President Alvaro Uribe, confirmed the declaration of my case as a case of crimes against humanity, and ordered the President of the Republic to make a public and symbolic act of reparation.
I receive this new act of justice in Belgium, at the headquarters of Equipo Nizkor and Radio Nizkor, with great joy and gratitude for the loyal friendships and persistent organizations and individuals that allowed me to embrace JUSTICE in life, and to celebrate it with their company and support.
Only Giancarlo Auque, also former Director of Intelligence, and the officials whose cases are paralyzed before the JEP are still pending sentencing in the first instance.
Thanks to life for JUSTICE!
Claudia Julieta Duque
